Program

Day 1
  • From Saint Laurent en Brionnais to Vauban :

This first part of the hike will lead us to the cellars of the Fossil Wines an island in IGP of old grape varieties in which we will make an escapade if possible before melting in the forests of hardwoods on the heights of the Loire Valley. A first step to join Françoise and her comfortable tipis.

Day 2
  • From Vauban to Nochize:

The old cattle transportation roads lead to St Christophe en Brionnais where a visit to the cattle market is a must. You will be able to lean on the silver wall which bears this name because it is a place of transaction more than hundred years old! The bocage of the Brionnais is more uneven than the Charolais (without being mountainous) and offers numerous and varied viewpoints; then a descent on the plain of the Arconce will begin to join the mill of Vaux where a small dip with the horses is possible!

Day 3
  • From Nochize to Chatenay :

It is through the rolling plains of the Charolais that we will go to the castle of Drée for a picnic in front of this magnificent residence where you can visit the exteriors and its gardens in the French Moncorgé style. Then the group will go back up to the Douglas forests and the farm of Chatenay nestled in a small haven of peace entirely restored.

Day 4
  • From Chatenay to Saint Laurent en Brionnais :

We will take the time to stroll a little more in its sparse forests to reach the chapel of Dun, not without a detour by the Alpagas and the Walibis: unusual meeting in its places! The chapel of Dun, at the top of the mountain of Dun, overhangs the landscape what allows to admire the Brionnais bocage. Then it will be necessary to go down again this small mountain to find the equestrian farm.

Useful information

This five-day horseback ride will offer you all the pleasures of a nature vacation where we share simple but authentic moments. The horses will be the link that will make you move forward together, far from the screens and stress. A nature vacation to disconnect from your daily life and reconnect to simple things. Find yourself together, to live an adventure that will remain one of your most beautiful holiday memories.

The cavalry: most of the horses are born on the farm from Connemara, Spanish or trotter dams and Canadian Paint sires in the 1st generation, then purebred Arabian in the 2nd generation, the 3rd sire is again a paint 50% quater-horse, so they are "carrier" horses that also work in clubs in all disciplines.

Cécile has been a guide for more than 30 years, living in Burgundy since 1989. Cécile has always practiced this profession with other professionals from the Cathar countries to Provence until she settled in Saint Laurent en Brionnais. Cécile is keen on the rurality of her business and sharing her freedom.

Stewardship: a steward will meet you at noon and evening with a table, benches, a barbecue, a fridge.....a little comfort at the bend of the road! Your luggage is transported in vehicles.

The horse's equipment: Each horse is equipped with a comfortable leather saddle with a thermo-moldable rug with net saddlebags and a rope halter with its lead rope. We accept riders up to 130kg (after consultation). You can however bring a saddle blanket, stirrups and stirrup leathers.

The essentials to bring by your care: the gourd or bottle, sun cream, rain gear (no cape that flies awning), comforter if you arrive the day before to sleep at the lodge, pocket knife, flashlight.

Medium - Advanced (stages of about 25-30 kilometers per day).

  • Master the basics of riding (walk, trot, gallop).
  • Be at ease in taking care of your horse (grooming, saddling, unsaddling, tying up...).
  • To have already practiced outdoor riding (horseback riding).
  • For a good cohesion of the group it is desirable to have already practiced the 3 paces in outside.

Give us some details about your level of practice and don't hesitate to tell us your wishes when you register!
