Program

Day 1
  • Welcome to Briennon, the starting point for a day's canoeing on the Loire! Embark on a peaceful adventure lasting between two and four hours, depending on the route you choose, punctuated by refreshing breaks.

The short trip takes you to Iguerande, where you'll have just 2 km to cycle to your accommodation. If you're feeling more sporty, you can take a canoe to Chambilly, from where you can cycle back along the "voie verte" for an hour to reach your evening stopover.

At Céline and Sandy's, an invigorating meal awaits the sports enthusiasts, to round off a day full of discoveries along the Loire. Enjoy this unique experience combining sport, nature and warm hospitality!

Day 2
  • Today you'll be setting off along the "voie verte" that runs alongside the Loire, the "véloire". We suggest a short diversions to Charlieu, a village of character in the Loire. Make the most of a visit to this magnificent village, in particular the Benedictine abbey, a must-see.

Explore the remains of ninth-, tenth- and eleventh-century churches unearthed during excavations. Don't miss the Gothic cloister and chapter house, with its exceptionally well-preserved Romanesque colonnade. Charlieu also offers a variety of restaurants to suit all budgets for a pleasant lunch break.

Finish your tour at the "cul du Sornin", a picturesque spot on the banks of the Loire. The distance of this cycling adventure varies according to the age of the children and your level, with routes ranging from 15 to 60 km on the voie verte or small country roads. Make the most of this day of exploration on two wheels along the enchanting landscapes of the Loire!

Useful information

Explore the splendour of the Loire, France's longest river, on a two-day adventure in the heart of unspoilt nature. Commonly known as Europe's last wild river, the Loire offers magnificent scenery in an area classified Natura 2000, recognising the rarity and fragility of its wildlife and habitats.

This is the Loire in Burgundy, different from that of the châteaux or gorges further upstream. It is young and capricious, with its scattered islands and elegant meanders.

Day 1: By canoe

Your exploration begins by canoe, offering remarkable panoramas where the flora and fauna add great interest to your stay. Glide along the water to get up close to species such as Common Terns, Grey Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons, Great Crested Grebes, Bank Swallows and many other remarkable birds. Canoeing on the Loire is just as suitable for families as it is for groups of friends, often creating moments of laughter unforgettable.

Day 2: By bike

On the second day, set off by bike, taking the towpaths of the Roanne to Digoin canal and the "voie verte"from Iguerande to Briennon, which also runs alongside the Loire. It's an easy, safe route, accessible to all, with a diversion through Charlieu, a village where you can visit historic sites or simply enjoy the beautiful central village square. A cycling experience that promises rewarding discoveries and moments of relaxation.
